Friends of Orvis on our Ginger Beer Beat

On Tuesday 8th October, we were delighted to be joined on the Kimbridge beat for a late season day by some friends of Orvis who have kindly helped and supported us throughout the season. We arrived on the beat at 10am to be welcomed by beautiful sunshine and some very excited-looking guests, ready for one last fish for trout in 2019.

We last saw the group at the Orvis UK Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival that took place in St. Mawes, Cornwall, this September. All experienced anglers, we thought this would be a great opportunity to put our newest kit through its paces, testing the new men’s and ladies Pro kit. Amongst the group was Blaede Russell (@blaede_russell), who placed 1st in the Pro competition at the Saltwater Festival, as well as Neville Broad (@nevbroadswff) who placed 2nd and Tom Barclay (@thomasclarksonbarclay) who placed 2nd in the Amateur competition.

Susan Skrupa (@superskrup) and Larysa Yefremova (@larysa_yefremova) kicked off our day at Kimbridge with the first Trout, guided by Tom Skipsey (@ginger_riverkeeper). This followed with many more throughout the day, with the group catching and releasing over 30 fish.

In the afternoon, it was rain that followed which gave us the perfect opportunity to test out the new Orvis ultralight and pro wading jackets, shielding us from the heavy shower.

We had a fantastic day and can’t thank each and everyone person for their support in so many ways. What a great end to a brilliant season! Thank you to Ben Eteridge and Chris Sayer for capturing the day in the amazing pictures that can be seen in this blog and on the Orvis UK social channels.

We can’t think of a better way to end the season than with our friends. We hope to see you all again on our fishing beats in the not too distant future!
